  • The Philippines is an archipelago of 7,107 islands. Most are breathtakingly beautiful and awe-inspiring. But far from being just an archipelago of white sandy beaches lined with palm trees, Manila is also one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Asia, alongside key destinations like Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, KL, and Tokyo.
  • The Philippine educational system was introduced by the Americans and has been in place for more than 60 years. This has helped produce one of the most fluent English-speaking countries in this hemisphere.
  • The Philippines has the most number of English TV channels in English outside of the USA, Canada, and the UK. At last count there are about 50 English channels. And it’s constantly growing because of cable and satellite TV!
  • The Philippines is the first Asian country where Hollywood blockbusters are released.
  • 24/7 food is par for the course over here. The Philippines has the most number of 24-hour eateries and restaurant per square meter than anywhere else in the world. How’s that for a constant food supply for a hungry workforce? McDonald’s, KFC, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Seattle’s Best Coffee, and many more – all of them operate round-the-clock to feed the 300,000 people working in the Philippine’s BPO industry!
  • As of 2007, there are approximately 200,000 contact center and business process outsourcing seats in the Philippines. In 2000, there were less than 10,000 seats. This exponential growth is driven by the government’s support for the BPO industry with programs like education grants, scholarship funds, and tax holidays for BPO operators.
  • There are approximately 300,000 Filipinos working in the contact center and BPO industry (and this is a number that grows with every fresh batch of graduates every school year!). Of this number, over 80% have college degrees, and all are English-literate and provide professional service the Filipino way: with a smile.
